How much money will I need for a trip to Europe?
Flight from Australia (Brisbane) and landing some share in Europe, I am willing to travel around by train (if not cheaper). The country I want to see are in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Denmark and the United Kingdom. I spend about two weeks in each country and 4 in the United Kingdom. I'm staying with friends and family in the United Kingdom so I will not have to pay for accommodation. How much money will I need to budget for my trip? I'm not working for food and accommodation if could be an option. So I'm not looking for 5 star hotels! I want to do this trip as cheap as I can. The reason Im asking because I do not know how to go about planning a budget like this. Thank you for any help:) Also im planning to be in the United Kingdom for Mars if it helps In fact, I have a British passport and I am a permanent resident of Australia
You need to be aware that you will need a visa to enter the Schengen area. It is valid for a maximum of 90 days and you are expressly forbidden to work. Assuming you have an Australian passport, then you do not need a visa to enter the United Kingdom but again you are limited to 90 days and yet, you can not work. Overall average costs in Europe are close to those of Australia to budget using Australian prices and you will not be further from the truth. I suggest you add 20% as a reserve.
