Brisbane Apartment Hotel

How is the time in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in July / August?
Me and my family are planning to travel to Australia in July / August this year. While I know it's too early to ask any question, however, I wonder what kind of weather we should expect during these months in Sydney and Melbourne. I heard someone in Dubai that we must be prepared for a very cold and wet it. I really do not want to travel especially in wet conditions, we can not do much when it rains. Also, I would like to know what places you should visit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, we have four days for each place. I would also like to know the cheaper options to stay in an apartment hotel for 4 days in Sydney and Brisbane. Thank you all in advance for any help you could give me. I would appreciate receiving your responses.
In July / August in Sydney and Melbourne, it's pretty cool even though most of the time it is not all that wet. (I certainly would not call these very wet weather or cold, but …: S) Although I think the time of the year could be a bit of drizzle in Melbourne. The rainy season Australia is in summer (December-February). Depending on where you just do not think Sydney and Melbourne to be very cold at all. Generally, this will be medium to low teens (degrees C). I'm not entirely sure of the exact temperature because I live in Brisbane which is generally a little warmer and sunnier than both Sydney and Melbourne. I'm afraid I can not help you with lodging options, I do the research myself. I suggest you take a look at some websites of places you can find on google: Housing) to visit … The most obvious are the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge (very nice, can not miss them). In Brisbane, I suggest maybe visiting a zoo (can not go Australia without cuddling a koala and a kangaroo, hug) and enter the city and have a look around South Bank (like South Bank, it is really nice). The botanical gardens are also very nice. I hope you have a good holiday. Personally, I love Australia so I can be a bit biased: P
